Terms of Service — Leonality
Status: Ready for publication
Last updated: July 31, 2026
Version: 1.0
Language: English
This English version is a translation of the German Terms (AGB) for end users, supplemented with additional United States liability wording in Section 18.
The German version is the legally controlling text unless a separate English contract language is agreed. German version: https://leonality.com/de/terms.html.
1. Provider and Scope
1.1 Provider
The contracting party and provider of Leonality is:
Kai Kluftinger
Sole proprietor
Im Großacker 4a
79249 Merzhausen
Germany
Email: info@leonality.com
Imprint: https://leonality.com/imprint.html
1.2 Scope
These Terms apply to:
- the Leonality app (iOS/Android and any other platforms we offer),
- the website at
leonality.com, to the extent it describes the service or refers to the app, - free (Free) and paid (Premium) services,
- communication with us about Leonality.
These Terms are primarily addressed to consumers. If you use Leonality predominantly for commercial or self-employed professional purposes, these Terms apply accordingly, except where mandatory consumer protection law provides otherwise.
1.3 Relationship to other documents
| Document | Relationship |
|---|---|
| Privacy Policy | Complementary — covers data protection, not the contractual service content |
| Imprint | Complementary — provider identification |
| Apple App Store / Google Play | Additional for download, payment, subscription, refunds |
| Apple / Google (sign-in) | Additional for OAuth login |
If store terms conflict with these Terms regarding payment, subscription, and refunds, the store rules prevail to the extent permitted by law. Otherwise these Terms apply.
2. Contract Formation, Acceptance, and Minimum Age
2.1 Acceptance
Using Leonality requires that you know and accept these Terms. Acceptance occurs in particular by:
- express consent in the app (e.g. onboarding or account registration),
- registering or signing in to an account,
- completing a Premium purchase,
- continued use after valid notice of changed Terms (Section 14), where permitted by law.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use Leonality.
2.2 Minimum age
The minimum age is 16 years. Users under 16 may use Leonality only with parental or guardian consent. App Store age requirements may apply in addition.
2.3 Free contract
The Free use contract is formed when you use the app and — where required — accept these Terms. No fee is payable to us unless you purchase Premium. The Free contract is open-ended until it ends (Section 13).
2.4 Premium contract
Premium is formed by successfully completing an in-app purchase or subscription via the Apple App Store or Google Play. We are your contracting party for the Premium service; payment processing is handled by the respective store.
3. Scope of Service (Free and Premium)
3.1 What Leonality is
Leonality is software for personal goal planning, weekly structure, reflection, and optional AI support (charts, tasks, journal, reviews, routines, insights).
Leonality is not a medical device, not therapy, not an emergency service, and not legal, tax, or financial advice. We do not owe any particular personal success outcome.
3.2 Free
In the Free tier you may in particular plan manually, maintain a chart, use limited AI chart generations, sync with an account, and export data — as shown in the app at the relevant time.
3.3 Premium
With valid Premium you receive the expanded feature set (e.g. additional charts, extended AI/coach features, fuller insights) as described in the app and the respective store at the time of purchase.
Prices, term, renewal, and cancellation of subscriptions are governed by the information in the Apple App Store or Google Play at the time of purchase.
3.4 Product development
We may develop Leonality further and adapt, add, or discontinue features, provided the characteristic performance remains essentially intact or mandatory law (in particular German §§ 327 et seq. BGB for digital products) and Section 14 are observed.
4. Account, Guest Use, and Marketing
4.1 Guest use
You may use Leonality locally as a guest without a registered account. App content then usually remains only on the device; cloud sync, account-based AI, and marketing emails are not available. Limited product analytics without a user ID may still be sent for stability measurement (see Privacy Policy).
4.2 Account
Cloud sync, AI, and account-related administration require a registered account. Sign-in methods: email/password, Sign in with Apple, Sign in with Google.
You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential. If you suspect misuse, contact info@leonality.com.
4.3 Marketing emails (optional)
We send product and marketing emails only with separate consent and after double opt-in. Consent is not required for Free use, sync, or AI. You may unsubscribe at any time via the unsubscribe link, app settings, or info@leonality.com. Details: Privacy Policy.
5. User Obligations and Content
5.1 Permitted use
You may use Leonality only lawfully and within these Terms. Prohibited in particular are misuse, circumvention of Free/Premium limits, attacks on infrastructure, unauthorized access to others’ accounts, and unlawful content.
5.2 User content
You retain rights in content you enter (e.g. goals, journal, reviews). You grant us the simple rights necessary to operate, sync, back up, and process AI requests you trigger — not to sell your content or use it for independent advertising.
You are responsible for the lawfulness of your content and for not unnecessarily entering highly sensitive data (e.g. health data).
5.3 Feedback
If you voluntarily send product feedback or ideas, we may use that feedback to improve Leonality. This does not cover your stored app content (charts, journal, etc.).
6. AI Features
AI features generate automated suggestions for planning and reflection. They are triggered only when you actively use the relevant function; selected content may then be sent to our AI provider.
- AI responses may be inaccurate or incomplete.
- You review before accepting and decide yourself.
- Leonality and AI do not replace medical, psychological, psychiatric, legal, financial, or other professional advice.
- In acute danger, contact local emergency services (e.g. 112 in the EU / 911 in the US). Leonality is not an emergency channel.
- There are no automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR.
Free quotas and Premium entitlements are enforced technically. Temporary AI outages do not create damages claims beyond warranty and mandatory law.
7. Prices, Payment, and Cancelling Premium
7.1 Free
Free use is provided without charge to us.
7.2 Payment
Premium payments are processed exclusively via Apple or Google. We do not receive full payment card details. We may use RevenueCat for technical entitlement management.
7.3 Cancelling and refunding store subscriptions
Cancel ongoing subscriptions via your Apple or Google account subscription settings — not solely by emailing us or by deleting your account. Refunds follow store rules and mandatory law.
7.4 End of Premium
When Premium ends, Premium features stop; content you already created generally remains, and Free limits apply again.
8. Right of Withdrawal (Consumers)
The following statutory right of withdrawal is available only to consumers who conclude a paid Premium contract. Traders / businesses do not have a statutory distance-selling withdrawal right under the consumer rules described here.
If you are a consumer and conclude a paid Premium contract, you generally have a right of withdrawal. The period is usually 14 days from contract conclusion.
For digital content, the right of withdrawal may expire if we begin performance after you expressly consent and acknowledge that you thereby lose your withdrawal right (German § 356 (5) BGB). The app may obtain such confirmation before purchase.
Send withdrawal notices to:
Kai Kluftinger, Im Großacker 4a, 79249 Merzhausen, Germany
Email: info@leonality.com
The full withdrawal instructions and model form are in Appendices A and B. Practical repayment may run through store refund processes; please still notify us so we can deactivate Premium.
United States users: Apple and Google refund and cancellation policies apply as displayed in the store. EU/EEA consumer withdrawal rights apply where you qualify as a consumer under applicable EU/EEA law.
9. Availability and Support
We aim for stable operation but do not owe uninterrupted availability. Maintenance, third-party outages, your device, or your internet connection may limit use.
Support: info@leonality.com — within a reasonable time, without guaranteed response time and without professional advice.
Issues with store purchases, refunds, or OAuth login should primarily be resolved with Apple/Google; we help where reasonably possible.
10. Sync, Export, and Deletion
10.1 Offline-first and sync
Content primarily lives locally on the device. Cloud sync requires a registered account and internet. In multi-device/offline conflicts, the last-modified version usually wins. Leonality is not a full backup service; export important data regularly.
10.2 Export and reset
In Settings you can export available data (not necessarily every data type). “Reset all data” deletes only local data on the current device; cloud data may sync again afterwards.
10.3 Account deletion
Under Account & Login → Delete account, the app offers confirmed account deletion. The cloud account and related cloud data are deleted within technical and legal limits. A store subscription is not cancelled automatically. You may also need to reset local data or uninstall the app. Alternatively: info@leonality.com.
11. Warranty
Consumers have statutory defect rights, in particular for digital products and digital services (German §§ 327 et seq. BGB), where applicable.
The following alone are not defects: subjective dissatisfaction with AI suggestions, missing a personal goal, disruptions outside our control, or use of unsupported device/app versions.
Mandatory consumer rights are not waived by these Terms.
12. Liability
12.1 Unlimited liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence; injury to life, body, or health; under the Product Liability Act (where applicable); for fraud; and where mandatory law prohibits limitation.
12.2 Free use
For the free provision of Leonality (Free use), beyond the mandatory liability in Section 12.1 we are liable only for intent and gross negligence, to the extent permitted by law.
12.3 Slight negligence
For slightly negligent breach of material contractual duties (cardinal duties), liability is limited to the foreseeable, typically occurring damage. Cardinal duties are duties whose fulfilment makes proper performance of the contract possible at all and on which you may regularly rely (e.g. providing core features in the agreed scope).
For slightly negligent breach of non-material duties we are not liable, to the extent permitted by law.
Note: Section 12.2 remains unaffected for Free use; Section 12.3 applies in particular to paid Premium services and where mandatory law requires broader liability.
12.4 Further limits (where permitted)
Unless Section 12.1 applies, we are in particular not liable for:
- pure consequential loss and lost profits,
- data loss you could have avoided by reasonable export/device backup, or that arises from sync conflicts, misunderstanding reset, or device failure,
- outages of stores, OAuth, hosting, AI providers, or your device without our intent/gross negligence,
- damage solely from accepting AI outputs without review.
12.5 Unlawful content
If you cause justified third-party claims against us through intentionally or grossly negligently unlawful content, you will indemnify us against those justified claims to the extent permitted by law. Mandatory consumer protections remain unaffected.
13. Term, Suspension, and End of Contract
The Free contract is open-ended. You may stop using Leonality at any time and delete your account (Section 10.3).
We may restrict or suspend access for serious or repeated Terms breaches, misuse, limit manipulation, or threats to infrastructure — where reasonable after prior notice.
If we discontinue the service entirely, we will give timely notice and enable export where technically reasonable.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may change these Terms, in particular for legal changes, security, or product development.
Material changes with noticeable disadvantages for consumers will be announced in text form (email and/or in-app) with reasonable advance notice. You may object until the effective date and end the contract free of charge. Mere continued use is not consent to material disadvantages.
Pure clarifications without disadvantage may take effect upon publication of the updated version.
The current version is available at https://leonality.com/terms.html and https://leonality.com/de/terms.html.
15. Third-Party Providers
We use among others:
- Apple / Google (stores, login, payment),
- Supabase (auth, database, sync),
- Mistral AI (AI),
- RevenueCat (entitlements),
- Resend (outbound email),
- Zoho Mail (inbox for info@),
- Vercel (website hosting; fonts/CSS self-hosted).
Using Leonality does not create a separate user contract between you and these third parties for our Leonality service; their own terms may apply in addition (e.g. store, OAuth).
16. Governing Law, Venue, Dispute Resolution
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence in the EU/EEA remain unaffected.
Consumers may generally sue us at their place of residence. We sue consumers only in courts competent for their place of residence, where mandatory.
Contact for disputes: info@leonality.com. We are neither obliged nor generally willing to participate in dispute resolution before a consumer arbitration board (§ 36 VSBG), unless required by law or agreed in an individual case.
17. Final Provisions
If individual provisions are invalid, the remaining provisions remain effective. An effective provision that comes as close as possible to the economic purpose shall replace the invalid one — subject to mandatory law.
The German version of these Terms is controlling. This English text is for understanding; in case of conflict the German version prevails until a separate English contract language is agreed.

18. Additional Provisions for Users in the United States
This Section 18 applies in addition to the preceding sections for users located in the United States, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. It does not reduce mandatory rights under German or EU/EEA consumer law where those rights apply to you. If any part of this Section 18 conflicts with mandatory law that cannot be waived, that mandatory law controls for that part.
18.1 Disclaimer of warranties
EXCEPT AS EXPRESSLY REQUIRED BY MANDATORY LAW AND EXCEPT FOR THE WARRANTY RIGHTS IN SECTION 11 WHERE THEY APPLY TO YOU, LEONALITY IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE.
We do not warrant that Leonality will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that AI outputs will be accurate, complete, or suitable for any purpose.
18.2 Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, AND EXCEPT FOR LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE LIMITED UNDER SECTION 12.1 OR MANDATORY LAW:
- WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST REVENUE, LOST DATA, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, OR COST OF SUBSTITUTE SERVICES, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY;
- OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO LEONALITY OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO US (IF ANY) FOR PREMIUM IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) USD 50.
Some states do not allow certain exclusions or limitations; in those states our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
18.3 Indemnification (US)
To the extent permitted by law, you will defend and indemnify us and our officers, agents, and contractors against claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your unlawful content, misuse of Leonality, or material breach of these Terms, except to the extent caused by our intentional or grossly negligent conduct.
18.4 California and other state notices
If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under state consumer or privacy laws; privacy rights are described in the Privacy Policy. Nothing in these Terms is intended to waive non-waivable California consumer rights.
18.5 Store purchases (US)
In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple or Google under their terms. Refund and cancellation requests for store charges are generally handled by Apple or Google according to their policies.
Appendix A — Instructions on Withdrawal
Right of withdrawal
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within fourteen days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period is fourteen days from the day of the conclusion of the contract.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, you must inform us
Kai Kluftinger
Im Großacker 4a

of your decision to withdraw from this contract by an unequivocal statement (e.g. a letter sent by post or email). You may use the model withdrawal form (Appendix B), but it is not obligatory.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we shall reimburse to you all payments received from you, without undue delay and in any event not later than fourteen days from the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw. We will carry out such reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
If payment was made via Apple or Google, reimbursement may in practice be processed through the store.
Expiry of the right of withdrawal
The right of withdrawal expires for a contract for the supply of digital content which is not supplied on a tangible medium if we have begun performance after you have:
- expressly consented to us beginning performance before the end of the withdrawal period, and
- acknowledged that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal.
